A CHURCH THAT SHOWS UP

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:35

You are invited to make an impact!

We believe God calls each of us to change the world for the better! At Wesley, we don’t sit on the sidelines. We get out of our seats and into the streets to care for our neighbors. Join a community outreach and serve the hungry and homeless in NJ. Or go global and help with Nyagidha Education Center in Kenya on the other side of the world.

Weekly Mission

Ending Local Hunger.

We are big on feeding people. We collect food for South Plainfield Social Services and partner with New Dover UMC in Edison to make hundreds of sandwiches and collect food for St. Joseph's Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth every Friday.

For more information, click here. To join the team or arrange drop offs through Wesley Church, please contact Connie Palmer.

We delivered more than 100,000 sandwiches
since the pandemic.

Monthly Missions

If you have a child in college, please contact the church office or Connie Palmer and provide their dormitory address. We will send a care package to support them during their final exam period.

In April, we are focusing on supporting the United Methodist Communities, a not-for-profit Christian organization established in 1907. These senior living communities, five of which are in New Jersey, aim to provide independent living for seniors who need help with daily activities and can no longer live in their homes. During the month of April, if you are able, please indicate on your contribution envelope “United Methodist Communities.” The Mission Team has designated $1,000 in matching funds for this valuable cause. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and helps many in need.

Missions Update

From the Mission Team (4/18/2025)

We had another great count on Monday, enabling us to deliver 151 lunches to BIANCA in Plainfield.  Glad to have Sharon’s small group with us this coming week.  Keep those sandwiches coming.

Last Friday we packed 251 lunches at New Dover. Centenary UMC did a great job providing most of the sandwiches.  We are taking a break on Good Friday but will be back there on APRIL 25th.

I don’t have an official list from the South Plainfield Social Services Department, but we plan to drop off some staples on Thursday.  Let’s repeat last week’s list:  pasta, Chef Boyardee, beef stew, mayo, ketchup, white rice, mashed potatoes, snacks, and all-purpose cleaner.

This month we continue to support United Methodist Communities with our extra giving.  We are supporting the Gift of Care Circle which assures that no resident in any of the United Methodist Homes will be asked to leave if for any reason they are no longer able to pay.  It also covers the difference between what a resident can pay and the services provided for baseline care.  This assures compassionate care, providing what the resident needs.  Our mission team has approved $1,000.00 in matching funds to encourage your support for a program that could benefit the quality of life for a senior.

Happy Easter!
